Cette approche, dès lors qu’il s’agit d’aborder la question de la pulsion génocidaire chez les gens ordinaires, est radicalement originale sur ce terrain. Apparenté au maître-ouvrage de Christopher Browning, Des Hommes ordinaires, Des ombres à l’aube, s’agissant de l’histoire américaine, reconsidère ainsi au plus près le problème de la violence faite aux autochtones américains, trop souvent réduite à quelques archétypes, mais aussi propose un examen en profondeur des entreprises mémorielles et de leurs conséquences – parfois terribles – y compris dans et par l’histoire.
